Thin Film Optical Coatings

Opti-Forms has over 20 years engineering the art of thin film optical coatings. We design and manufacture optical coatings for UV, visible, and IR applications. Opti-Forms optical coatings are effective on a variety of substrates. Most of our coated substrates are metals and glass. Our precision coatings are adhered to a wide variety of sizes and shapes; from complex shapes to our standard geometries.

Opti-Forms deposits optical coatings ranging in size from a few inches in diameter to over fifty inches in diameter. Opti-Forms offers the unique ability to accurately deposit optical coatings onto complex geometries such as surface of revolution collection optics, as well as more conventional planar surfaces.

Upon request, reflectance measurements are also performed on collection optics or surface of revolution optics at Opti-Forms' IRAD test stations. The IRAD test output is relative reflectance, absolute transmittance, chromaticity coordinates, and correlated color temperature. Digital projection optics are IRAD tested under full lamp load.

Optical Polishing

Opti-Forms has extensive experience in optical polishing techniques and processes. We routinely polish a wide variety of surfaces ranging from chrome plated parts, electroless nickel plated surfaces, stainless steels, brass, copper and other common substrates.

Our polishing process introduces no stress to the surface material. We have a highly controlled micron cutting/polishing technique. The results have to be seen to be appreciated.

Reflector Refurbishment

Opti-Forms offers refurbishment service of several coating variations. This service strips and recoats damaged or degraded coatings such as gold, aluminum; including AF, AQ and EA. Typically, these coatings can be chemically stripped without damaged to the substrate, allowing the application of a fresh thin film.

In addition to metal reflectors; we strip and recoat glass reflectors as well.
