Reflector Refurbishment Services

Opti-Forms offers refurbishment service of several coating variations. This service strips and recoats damaged or degraded coatings such as gold, silver, aluminum; including AF, AQ and EA. Typically, these coatings can be chemically stripped without damaged to the substrate, allowing the application of a fresh thin film.

In addition to metal reflectors; we strip and recoat glass reflectors as well.

Exceptions to this service include:

• a physically damaged reflector is not qualified for this service;

• this service only refurbishes the coating on a reflector, not the physical reflector itself; and

• dichroic coatings and rhodium are not strippable and therefore don't qualify.

Service Process

Receiving:

Log in job, tag for pre-service inspection

Evaluation:

Critically determine the condition of the reflector (surface, optical, etc.) and therefore its ability to be satisfactorily reconditioned (NOTE: depending on the surface condition and existing optical coatings, some electroformed reflectors cannot be refurbished)

Customer Notification:

Based on evaluation, we notify the customer with the evaluation results and the proposed approach to refurbish the reflector

Pre-Process:

Strip exisiting coating and evaluate surface

Process:

Reflector sent to Opti-Forms Optical Coating department for prescribed coating service

Post Process:

Inspection of processed coating

Ship Back to Customer:

The refurbished reflector is carefully packaged and all shipping documents processed; customer is notified of completion and given a shipping tracking number for each packaged job item
