Precision Electroforming


  Optiforms has extensive experience in radiant energy systems, electro-optical and electro-mechanical systems, low mass cold shields, unique electroformed structural shapes as well as enhanced spectral performance coatings. Optiforms can assist in seeking a cost-effective design for most electroforming applications.

     Electroforming can consistently replicate difficult to fabricate shapes from a single master tool, which significantly reduces per part costs. Production capabilities expand further with additional master tools. With 66 operational plating cells dedicated to the electroforming of precision optical components, Optiforms has the capacity to generate many thousands of reflectors and electroformed components per month.

     Our unique process of electroforming affords the production of exotic, complex shapes at substantial cost savings over other conventional manufacturing processes such as grinding, diamond turning or other single point machining. Since electroforming is a replication process, these complex shapes can be produced in volume at a fraction of the cost of these conventional optical fabrication techniques. Each electroform replication will exhibit equal physical and optical characteristics for a uniform consistency in product quality.

     Optiforms provides both design and fabrication versatility from large (36 inch diameter) electroformed reflectors to small medical instrument tips. Aspheric contours generated by computer designs and conic sections such as paraboloids, ellipsoids, hyperboloids and off-axis segments can be produced in volume with repeated accuracy. Traditional optical fabrication techniques cannot compete with this cost effective production process.
